KW Escape’s is one of those rare gems in the escape room world. While there are some good run-by-the-owner rooms built into old office spaces, there are few like this. The building is 6,000 square feet, it is extremely well run and professional, and I think I counted at least six staff moving about taking care of guests. Although we generally handle overall facility reviews through Google, it is worth mentioning here.
The staff here are great. Very friendly and helpful. The introduction is done via video in a closed room before they come back in. The hints are delivered by a series of small booklets near each puzzle that give you increasingly more specific direction. This is an excellent way of delivering hints and a phone is also avialable if you’re really stuck.
The story integration score was tricky because, though there is a story applied it doesn’t really make sense. I love a good story but here it doesn’t matter. This is the first room I’ve done where a story was not neccesary to make it fun. There is so much to do in this room that three to six people will have a blast. But be warned that it will be tricky with three people. This room is like having 20 to 30 (trying to be vague!) little rooms packed into one each with their own themes and puzzle styles. I was told the number of locks in this room but I wont share it here – there is a LOT.
The only downside to KW Escape which we’ve mentioned elsewhere is that the walls do not go to the ceiling (which is very high) which means you do hear noise from other rooms. At one point we thought we were accomplishing something because we say movement behind a wall but it was actually from an adjacent room. However, in this particular room, the high cieling, extra noise, and bright lighting did not have a big impact on the experience. Overall immersion was tricky to score because of this but the room was so well made for what it is that it earned a higher score.
This is an exciting must-try room for beginners or experienced players. There’s so much to do and it’s high energy and KW Escape is just a really cool place to go. So, check it out!
