This little location is tucked away in downtown Toronto. With its excellent Google rating I had to give it a shot. They have a foyer large enough to hold about 25 people and several rooms to choose from so, a corporate even should work here.
I did this room with a group of four which is unusual – we typically just complete rooms as a duo. The website claims that up to 9 people could be in this room but it would be very cramped and you’d average less than 1 puzzle per person in each area. I wouldn’t recommend doing this room with more than 5 people but could be completed with 2 experienced players.
They did put consideration into providing a 360 degree experience with the floors and ceilings matching the theme. There was unique lighting and audio throughout the experience which is nice to see as well. For the most part puzzles matched the theme and story though there were a few elements that felt re-used from other themes.
The props were mostly well made with little ware or damage visible.
There is a fairly linear progression throughout the room and a mix of traditional locks, technology, and other physical puzzles. There was one puzzle that is illogical as it doesn’t follow the traditional rules of the game. There are constraints on that puzzle that are unnecessary and when I asked the attendant “how are we supposed to discover that?” there was really no answer. Enigma – (spoiler alert) fix your chess puzzle!
Overall, an enjoyable mid-level room that you could give a try but we suspect that there are better rooms available in the area or even at Enigma.
