We’ve been looking forward to returning to Hint Hunt ever since Zen Room made our list of the most immersive escape rooms in Ontario. This time we were able to meet with the owner who started Hint Hunt Mississauga when he was just 23 with the goal of stepping up Canada’s escape room game – and we think he’s done just that.

The Crypt has what we call 360 degree immersion – and very few rooms truly have it. This means that not just the walls have been carefully designed but the floor and ceiling as well. Additionally, there must be unique audio and lighting throughout the room. This is one of a few rooms where you can forget that you’re inside of a commercial unit in a big city. The high Gothic vaulted ceilings are a level of detail of their own. The stone walls and floor are a high quality treat after recently visiting a room with broken styrofoam walls that hadn’t even been repainted.

The props are generally very good quality but with some wear. In some places the wear doesn’t matter because of the setting. The owner acknowledged that there were plans to remake a few elements which is good to hear. The immersion in this room is top notch.

The puzzles are well thought out and fit the theme well. We found the process through the rooms logical and there were appropriate hints. Asides from one puzzle near the end, we think it’s a medium difficulty (or even easy-medium) and would make an incredible first escape room to do – it’ll set a high bar for anything you do next. 4 people seems like a good number of people for this room though it’s possible with 2. More than 4 and you may find the first room very tight, however, the rest of the space is large and can support 6.

We would love to see the staff do intros, wrap ups, and hints in character, even at a low level, to bookend the experience.

This is an excellent experience we encourage you to book it now!
