Ichabod’s is a pretty cool place with a passionate owner who designs and builds everything. On our first visit we completed Protocol and Madder Tea Party and really enjoyed our time. However, we had a bit of a different experience this time which was primarily the staff. Two younger people who were enthusiastic at the counter, but didn’t seem invested in the experience. The staff make or break the experience and we’d love to see better consistency here.

We were fortunate enough to get a sneak peak of this room being built on our first visit. You can look back the build of this escape room on their website. Walking through it now made all of the things described to us come alive.

This room has some really cool elements to it as you journey under the water in an incredible submarine before finding yourself in an underground cavern. The submarine itself and the areas after have some really unique elements in them. There’s great ambient audio and lighting in most areas but was just shy of being great. There was also some unrepaired damage in the room and some loose materials which breaks the experience. We also think the handheld tool could’ve been better crafted to do the room justice.

The puzzles were good but we found that some of the instructions were too prescriptive or gave the answers without us having to really work for them. We recommend taking all of those hints that lay around the room and put them into a journal style book that we find on the submarine. That would make the experience more immersive than notes “underwater”.

This room was a low-medium difficulty for us. The space was great for 3 people but you could do it with 2 to 5. More than that and it will feel crowded.

Though this wasn’t our favorite room at Ichabod’s, it is a good choice and worth giving it a shot!
